The Bedouin Poacher bag is an ideal every day shoulder bag. Based loosely on the traditional British Game Keepers bag
Originally the net pocket is designed to hold your nights catch, rabbits, pheasants or fish and stop this mixing with the bag contents, we have found the net pocket extremely useful as a quick stash pocket.
The Poacher is made from our bonded cotton drill, made to our specifications in Oldham, Manchester. The outer facing cotton drill is one side and the inner face is our Crank liner. Our bonded canvas holds its shape extremely well and is very durable. This is combined with top grain veg tan leather and Portuguese knotted netting. The Poacher bag is made in Somerset, England.
The rear of the bag is single panel of leather with a stitched in passport pocket, ideal for quick secure access, also good for your phone. The front flap has our leather chevron to weigh it perfectly and is finished with a cobra buckle, underneath you have the netting pocket, which naturally expands with its load and this is secured with a collar stud (also known as a 'Sam Brown') internally there is a full width sleeve at the rear with a smaller double sleeve on it. This sleeve rests on the leather binding, and whilst this bag has no padding this provides excellent shock absorption should the bag be dropped.
Bonded canvas was originally developed by the inventor Charles Macintosh in the late 1700's in Scotland. The process is to laminate two lengths of fabric together with a layer of natural rubber between which makes it waterproof and more durable, he then went on to use this new fabric and created the now ubiquitous Mackintosh coat.
