Khan is our collaboration with Carryology, we have engineered the Genghis, our medium capacity messenger bag, in Dyneema.
The Khan is handmade in Somerset, England. The main body is constructed from 102gsm Dyneema Composite Fabric CT5K with Italian veg tanned bridle leather on the main flap and all the external binding. The shoulder strap is left shoulder padded construction, using a rumbled pebble leather for grip on the underside with British made seatbelt grade webbing and a bridle leather lash strip, finished with a black 50mm Cobra pro-style.
The main flap opens with two 25mm Cobra pro-style buckles, forged in Austria and the worlds strongest release buckle, to reveal two sleeve pockets and a zip pocket using Swiss RiRi zipping in matt black. Internally there is a large laptop sleeve pocket at the rear of the main compartment constructed from Dyneema that can accommodate a 15" MacBook or similar. There is also a zip pouch in Dyneema with black RiRi zipper and a black eyelet for attaching measuring 23cm X 14cm. The entire flap and rear panel is padded as is the base panel. Khan is lined with an exclusive orange cotton drill which is hand printed in London with the Bedouin® Crank pattern.
Dyneema is a technical fabric initially developed for strong, light weight racing yacht sails, (previously known as Cuben Fibre) it is now used for military and high performance industries where it's strength to weight ratio is coveted. In its cord form the fibre is 15 times stronger than steel cable of the same guage, as a fabric it has unsurpassed strength to weight. The Dyneema is so thin it is laminated to a 150 Dernier Polyester, the hand 'feel' best described as 'paper like' 'crunchy' feel, it also holds its shape very well, and is remarkably lightweight. Dyneema is manufactured by DSM in The Netherlands, find out more about it here.
